Five for Friday 7-31-15

Happy Friday!! Many of you are headed back to or already back in the classroom. I hope your beginning of the year goes as smoothly as it possibly can!!

It's Friday, so that means I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her amazing linky party 5 for Friday!

This link up gives us a chance to share 5 random things from our week! It's neat to get a chance to see what everyone has been up to!! Here's my 5 for Friday!!

If you are a kindergarten teacher you really need to join the Facebook group Simply Kinder!  This is a really great group run by the blog of the same name. Jennifer Kadar is an amazing kindergarten teacher with so many awesome tips and tricks to share!!
Besides all of the advice and idea-sharing between kindergarten teachers that this page offers, Jennifer puts together some really amazing ways we can connect and help each other!
Recently she created an event called 'My Favorite Things' where she paired up kindergarten teachers, and each teacher was given the name of another teacher and their address. We put together a package of our very favorite things to help us with teaching, either at school or home, and sent it to our partner.
My package came!!!!!
The teacher who sent me this package is also named 'Erin', how crazy is that?? She sent my package from Minnesota, and I've never gotten any mail from there before!! She found some really adorable sticky note pads. I love the ones that look like loose-leaf paper. There is also a notepad in the shape of an 'E' and star stickers that say "_____ is a Kindergartener!". They are going to be so cute to send home with my Dragons on their first day!
There have been a lot of amazing packages being shared on the Simply Kinder Facebook page, it's been really neat to look at all the pictures! I loved getting my package, but I had even more fun putting it together! There are rumors another exchange like this will happen around Christmas time, and I really hope that happens!!

If you've been involved with social media lately, chances are you have heard of the organization NAEIR. This organization offers many products to teachers/schools and other non-profit organizations at some seriously low prices. I mean, like ridiculously low.
If you haven't checked out their site, you really need to. You have to apply,  and to my knowledge they'll check your school's website to see if you're listed as a teacher in the school you say you are. If they can verify it, they will probably approve your application.
Once approved, you can then order different supplies from their site. Sometimes in a single quantity, other times with multiple of the same to a box (like pens).
I just got approved to become a member, and I have no idea what to order. I've been looking at their site and picked out a few things, but I haven't met the $25.00 minimum for shipping yet. If this is something you're a part of, what are some things you have ordered? (I already have a laminator)

I need your help, teacher friends!!! This year, for the very first time ever, I have purchased an Erin Condren Teacher Planner.

I debated with myself for two years on whether or not to invest in one of these, because it is an investment. These babies aren't cheap!! I had been looking at them online and stalking different bloggers who had them, but still wasn't sure if I wanted to make the investment or not. Then one of the first grade teachers at my school got one and showed it to me, as well as how she used it. She said it helped to keep her organized and on track, and it was so pretty too!!
After getting to see one up close and personal, I was hooked. I ordered mine during the Teacher Appreciation Sale, and have been excited to use it ever since!!
I ordered a few extras with my planner, like the band and a laminated To-Do List divider. I had so much fun shopping around on her site, and getting to choose my own cover was awesome!!
For those of you out there who are EC Planner Veterans or Newbies like myself, I'd LOVE for you to tell me how you best use this awesome organizer! Leave me some tips in the comments, I'll be ever so grateful!! :-)

I have been bit HARD by the creative bug!! I keep getting all these ideas, which I then furiously jot down on lists everywhere. I have been trying to compile everything and get some new activities created. I am having a great time working on new resources that I can use with my kinders.
I used to work on crossword puzzles with my mom, and those memories were the inspiration for my newest creation!!
I created simple crossword puzzles for the different CVC word family words we work on throughout the year. There are several different puzzles for each medial vowel sound, and a set of puzzles where the medial vowels are all mixed up in one puzzle.

I had a really fun time creating these, and I think my kinders are going to have a great time using them!!
If you're interested, you can go to my blog post HERE and enter my Rafflecopter drawing to win one.
OR you can head to my TPT Store and get the pack for 50% OFF until midnight EST tonight!!! It's the cheapest price it will ever be!

Each week I share with you how I am doing with my self-appointed Freebie Feedback Challenge. A few months ago I challenged myself to leave feedback on all of the freebies I had downloaded from TPT. I have sporadically left feedback on freebies, but challenged myself to do better. I needed something to hold myself accountable, so I created a fun graphic that I share with you all each week!

I'm on a roll friends!! I'm getting closer and closer to reaching my goal of feedback for all my freebies!!

Well, that's my week! What happened with you this week? Tell me in the comments or link up below!

Don't forget that tomorrow is Spotlight Saturday! You can link up for a Teacher's Show and Tell where you can share with us your favorite resources, products, activities, tips, tricks, ideas, and anything else that makes classroom life easier or more fun!!

Five for Friday - 7/24/25

Another Friday has arrived!! Only one more Friday in July is left!! Can you believe there are stores with Christmas stuff out already???
Today I am linking up with the fabulous Doodle Bugs Teaching for her super-fun 5 for Friday linky party!

This linky is where we get to share five random things from our week.

My sweet furbaby Isis had her fourth birthday on Tuesday!! It kinda snuck up on me, I can't believe she's four!! Not being able to get around on my own yet, I wasn't able to get her a gift yet. I know she's not going to care one bit that I'm late with her birthday gift, though it makes me a bit sad!!
It says three years, but the bottom pic was taken a week before her fourth birthday. I didn't realize her birthday was so close when I took this!!
She's changed so much since she was a puppy! However, she just seems to love me more and more every day!! Love her to pieces!!

On Monday I had another doctor's appointment with my Foot and Ankle Specialist. I received laser treatment #7, and talked with the doctor about how my recovery is going. I've been able to use my leg brace and walker and put weight on my foot to walk. I have even been practicing going up and down the stairs using just the brace and the hand rails! The doctor said as long as I didn't overdo it, I could start to take short trips out into the wide wide world!! Huge deal for me, since I've been stuck on the couch since January, only leaving for a doctor's appointment!!

After my appointment, my dad and I went to a local Red Robin. I have a tavern bacon double-cheeseburger with bottomless fries, and a grown up drink or two. This was so yummy!! A prickly pear margarita with sugar on the rim!! So good!!!
It was so incredibly wonderful to get out of the house! Tomorrow I get to go to Target and zip around the aisles in the little electric cart! The Dollar Spot is calling my name!!!

If you've been paying attention to social media lately, especially Periscope, you have learned about the movement created by Lucky Little Learners and Schroeder's Shenanigans in 2nd called 'Find Your Tribe'. This is a way for teachers to get together and help each other out by giving support, encouragement, collaboration, and so much more!
There are many different tribes you can become a part of, and often more than one tribe will apply to you! Just go search Facebook and you're going to find at least one tribe for you to join up with!!
I was lucky enough to become a part of #teachertribe, #primarytribe, and #kindertribe. I find myself spending the most time with #kindertribe, since this is a group full of kindergarten teachers. There are so many in this group that the experience level ranges from brand new to veteran teachers. There is so much wonderful information and ideas to share! The #kindertribe Facebook group I belong to have gone a step further and created a blog. This blog was designed with the intent for kindergarten teachers from all over the world to come together and help build each other up!
In order to get to know the many, many kindergarten teachers who are part of our tribe, there is an awesome linky party going on right now.

This linky party is where we get to share a bit more about ourselves and learn more about each other. You can read about the many members of our tribe by clicking on the image above!

I've been working hard on adding some new products to my TPT store! I have been creating different activities that can be used during the beginning of the year. I think my kinders are really going to enjoy these!

They will get to use various colors of BINGO daubers during each of these activities! You can read all about these three activities by clicking here!!

Finally, I wanted to share with you how my Freebie Feedback Challenge is going! For any of you who don't know, I am challenging myself to leave feedback on all of the freebies I have downloaded from TPT. Here's what I've accomplished so far!

Since I started, I have been trying to leave feedback on at least ten freebies every day. This doesn't always work, and some days I leave more and other days I leave less. However, I think I'm going pretty well so far!! I have left feedback on almost 300 freebies, and that's pretty awesome!!

Thanks so much for reading about my 5!! Swing back over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to see who else has linked up. You can link up too!!

Don't forget that tomorrow is Spotlight Saturday! It's a Teacher's Show and Tell link up to share your favorite products, activities, resources, activities, ideas, tips, tricks, and whatever else you use in your classroom life that you just have to share!

Five for Friday

I really love this link up of Doodle Bugs Teaching!! Five for Friday is a great way for me to recap my week!

Let's take a look at what I've been up to this week!

I had my 6th round of laser treatments on my ankle this week. There has been so much improvement since the very first time I went, and each time it gets a little better! The doctor wants to schedule some more treatments and see how my ankle responds.
I'm most excited about being weight-bearing again! I can FINALLY put weight on my ankle, for the first time since the accident in January. I have to use my walker and wear my brace, and I'm oh-so-slow, but I am able to walk again!! I practice walking with the walker by going up and down the hallway, trying to build up that strength so I can be strong enough to not need to walker anymore!! :-)

My sweet niece got her 16 month pictures done this week. She is so stinkin' cute!! Even better, she is my sister reincarnated!! I LOVE watching my niece give the same attitude my sister did! It's crazy how much of a carbon copy my niece is to my sister!! If my mom were still with us, she would definitely say my sister deserves Lilly!!

I'M HAVING A SALE!!! I'm a little bummed that, because of my ankle, I can't got do any of the fun 4th of July activities. I won't be going to any cookouts or carnivals, no beaches or fireworks. So since I'm stuck on the couch, I decided to celebrate the holiday by having a SALE!!
Come on over and stock up on all sorts of amazing products that you can use this upcoming school year! Help me celebrate the holiday!!

I have been working SO HARD on my TPT Sellers Challenge this week! This week we are to showcase our Masterpiece, and mine isn't quite finished. Thank goodness this challenge is a week and a half instead of the normal week! I will be done very, very soon. NO. MATTER. WHAT. Can you tell I'm ready to be done with it? ;-)   I already have an amazing friend that I have paired up with to edit my Masterpiece. My bloggy bestie Jill from Chevron and Centers is going to be my editing partner! She's so awesome, I know she'll do an amazing job!
Since I don't have my Masterpiece to share yet, I wanted to share with you an update on my TPTSellersChallenge!! I have been keeping track of the numbers all week, each week, instead of just at the beginning and end of the challenge.
Here are my numbers for the first three weeks of TPT Sellers Challenge. I have been lucky enough to see an increase in all areas, which is really awesome! Several of the areas have jumped up by A LOT, too, which is so great to see!! I am also excited to have reached several goals and milestones that I set for myself! I can't wait to celebrate those accomplishments with you as soon as the TPT Seller Challenge is over! Something fun to look forward to!!

Finally, I wanted to touch base with you and share how my Freebie Feedback Challenge is going. If you read my last Five for Friday post you remember that I am challenging myself to leave feedback for every freebie I have downloaded from TPT.
This is what I started with. Whenever I download a new freebie, the number in the blue boxes goes up. Whenever I leave feedback on freebies that I have downloaded, I add those numbers to the green boxes. Finally, I subtract the green from the blue to get the number in the purple boxes, which is how many freebies I have left to leave feedback on.
Here's where I am as of today. I have been trying to leave feedback on freebies at least ten times a day, though there are days where I don't make that goal while other days I exceed it. I think it's neat to see my progress so far. It's pretty cool to see that I have left feedback on over 100 freebies so far!! GO Me!! :-)

Thanks for recapping my week with me! Swing on over to Doodlebugs Teaching to see how else has linked up! I love getting to read about all my favorite bloggy friends!!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow and link up for Spotlight Saturday! In this link up you can showcase your favorite products, resources, activities, and ideas! So many wonderful things have been shared, from detailed planners to fancy handmade paperclips to incredible TPT products! I have learned so many new things, I'm so excited to see what everyone has to Spotlight tomorrow!!
