The Spotlight is Shining!

Happy Saturday everyone! Today kicked off my Spotlight Saturday linky party! I have had such a great response, and everyone has been so sweet! If you don't know about this linky, just click on the picture at the end of this post below!

I want to take a moment and send a huge THANK YOU! to everyone who has linked up so far! It is so wonderful to read about your products and see them in action! There have been some AMAZING freebies shared already! Here's a great one from Pocket of Preschool for the younger kiddos, like my kinders! <to get this awesome freebie, click on the image at the very bottom of this post so you can go to my Link Up page and read all about Pocket Of Preschool's Spotlight Saturday!>

Remember that your Spotlight doesn't have to be a product from TPT, although you certainly can! Spotlight Saturday is so much more, though! You can Spotlight something amazing that you tried out in your classroom that worked, or an activity you Pinned, or an amazing bulletin board that you created. You can Spotlight ANYTHING about your classroom or life as a teacher, including any products in your TPT store (or the TPT store of another seller). My so sweet friend from Chevron and Centers Spotlighted some BIG changes in her classroom this year! She also shared some really cute posters to help set up a classroom! <check out more about her Spotlight by clicking on the picture at the end of my post to go read about her Link Up!>

I want to take a moment to talk about how Spotlight Saturday works. This link up was created to have an opportunity to Spotlight the work of yourself and other educators. When you Spotlight the resource or activity or idea, you must do so on your blog. If you are Spotlighting a product from your own TPT store or that of another seller, make sure that in your blog post you Spotlight a freebie or a paid product. If you have a freebie and a paid product from the same seller, feel free to use both in your post. If all you have is a freebie, then post about the freebie and how you used it. You can also Spotlight a freebie that someone else created along with a product that you created, as well as both a freebie and a paid product from your store. However, you should not just link up to a product in your TPT/TN store. This link up is for sharing and discussing not only the product/idea/activity but how it is used in the classroom. If it is a product that you have created and you want to Spotlight it, that's perfectly fine and even welcomed! However, you MUST talk about this product on your blog. Showcase how you use it, include pictures of your kiddos working on it. Spotlight a freebie too, tell us about the product, show us pictures that explain how to set up the activity. Please don't just link up to a product out there. We are working together to share our thoughts and ideas on products/resources/activities/ideas that we have created or that we have used or plan to use that someone else has created. When you have finished reading about each Spotlight Saturday post, make sure to leave some feedback love in the comments section of the blog post!

I'm sorry that I was not more specific when talking about the reason for Spotlight Saturday, my apologies about that! I want you to link up with us with a link back to your blog, not just provide a direct link to a product. Make sure that when you link up you are linking up to a blog post you have written about the activity, product, resource, or idea you want to share. Do not just provide a link to a product you have for sale. In order to participate, for all future Spotlight Saturday link ups, your link must go to a post on your blog where you are showcasing a product, resource, activity, or idea. If not, you will have to be deleted from the link up. I'm not going to make any changes to this week's linkup because I was not as specific as I should have been. However, this will start on the next link up. I'm not trying to be a meanie, but we want to use this link up to share information about different products, activities, resources, or ideas that we love so much we just have to share them with everyone! We want to learn about what you are Spotlighting and how it should best be used. Help us spread the word about activities and ideas we love by shining the Spotlight on them!

There have been lots of products shared this week, including editable name tags, a fun sight word practice, an activity for end of year in third grade, activities that work in an early childhood classroom as well as a freebie that works in any grade level!!  I have been having a great time reading about the different activities and ideas that have linked up so far! I love all the hands on practice in the activities from Pocket of Preschool, there is an amazing freebie that Mrs. Garcia's Super Scholars found about number partners, and I Heart Grade 3 has a great post about how to use Positive Post-It Notes! She's got a super freebie to go with it, too! I know that using this with my kinders next year will definitely put a smile on their little faces! <to get this freebie, click on the image at the very bottom of this post. It takes you to the LInk Up where you can read all about I Heart Grade 3's Post-It post!>

I can't wait to hear about what you're shining the Spotlight on today!

Do you want to link up with us and share the Spotlight? Read about the rules below and join us for Spotlight Saturday!

Rules:
1) You need to spotlight an educational resource that either you have created or you have found from someone else and love! This means you must link up with a blog post you have written putting an activity or idea in the Spotlight. Please do not link directly to a product in Teachers Pay Teachers or Teacher's Notebook or similar sites.
2) If you are Spotlighting a product from your own TPT store or that of another seller, make sure that in your blog post you Spotlight a freebie or a paid product. If you have a freebie and a paid product from the same seller, feel free to use both in your post. If all you have is a freebie, then post about the freebie and how you used it. You can also Spotlight a freebie that someone else created along with a product that you created.
2) Make sure to give credit where credit is due! You will need to include the name of the creator as well as a link to their TPT or Teacher's Notebook store where others can get a copy of the resource as well.
3) Include pictures of the product in your post, either screen shots  or photographs of your kiddos actually using the product. Give us a snapshot, just a brief glimpse into how the product or activity works. Just an image of the cover and one of the pages you have listed in the preview of the activity on TPT would be fine. It gives readers a visual and helps them better understand what your product is all about.
4) Make sure to leave a comment on the post of the two people before your post and the person after. This will help get conversation rolling, and will make sure everyone feels recognized for their efforts!
5) This is not the place to share your frustrations or disappointment with an activity or how you would have done it differently. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase that is a private conversation you need to have with the seller via email. This is not a link up to bash any sellers or their products, and any posts like that WILL BE DELETED!!
6) Follow my blog with Bloglovin' to make sure you are kept up to date on all the latest link up additions. Don't forget to follow my Facebook page too to keep up with all the notifications I send out!
7) To Link Up, you will need to click on the small blue button underneath my closing signature. It is directly under my name on the left hand side of the blog, Click on the image below to head over to my Spotlight Saturday post so you can link up with us!

Spotlight Saturday - Chevron and Centers

It's Saturday, so you know what that means! Spotlight Saturday is here! Yay!! Do you know about my weekly linky party? Let me tell you all about it!!

So every Saturday I take the opportunity to Spotlight a few of my favorite TPT products! Sometimes I Spotlight my own products, but most of the time I Spotlight someone else's. If you want to link up with me it's so easy! This linky party is all about showcasing the hard work and creativity that is out there! Each Saturday I will Spotlight a freebie as well as a paid product in order to help you all learn about some of the awesome and amazing resources there are out there! I am really hoping that you will link up with me and do the same! Remember, you can share your own creations or those of another seller. Read more about this linky party at the end of my Spotlight post!

Who is getting her time in the Spotlight today?

Why, it's my incredibly sweet friend Jill from Chevron and Centers! I have been lucky enough to 'meet' Jill through blogging and working with her on Super Top Secret Projects. Let me tell you, I am SO GLAD I did! Jill is one awesome kindergarten teacher who creates some really incredible activities and resources to use in the classroom! It was hard to choose just 2 of her activities to talk about, so trust me you really need to check out her store! There are links at the end of the post to connect you to Jill's various social networking sites!

I am starting off with one of the many, many freebies you can find in the Chevron and Centers store! There are OVER 40 freebies to choose from, and some of my very favorites are from the week-long freebie celebration she did for Teacher Appreciation Week. I am Spotlighting one of the freebies in her store that will definitely help me when I head back to school in August! <click on the image below to take you over to this freebie!>

This incredible little gem of a freebie contains 6 activities, three for Literacy and three for Math. She covers four Kindergarten CCSS that are very important skills to focus on during the beginning of the year!

Can you believe she has all these amazing activities in a FREE packet? This packet is going to be a huge hit in my room during our Daily 5 Literacy and Daily 3 Math rotations! One of the activities in this freebie is an ALL-TIME favorite activity in my room, a Write the Room activity!

There are this incredibly adorable kidlette posters to hang all around the room so the kinders can search for them. When I'm hanging mine i always put a few in tricky places, as this makes the activity last longer. Downside was I kept forgetting where I had put them! Ha!! So I started snapping quick pictures with my phone after i hung them up, so I would have a visual reminder of where I had put them all!

The recording sheet is awesome as well, covering all 26 letters. How much do your kiddos love walking around the room with their clipboards and pencils?? Make sure to grab this amazing freebie from Jill, there are so many more activities inside it that you really need to check out! Especially Teeny Tiny Letters, I can't wait for my kinders to start working on that one!!

As for the paid product of Jill's I'd like to spotlight, I chose one that I could use during the beginning of the year.

This pack is PERFECT for starting off the year in kindergarten! The activities fit into the whole season wonderfully and provide lots of great opportunities for the kiddos to practice Math with Self and Math with Someone activities! This packet has an incredible amount and variety of literacy and math activities!

You really need to check out the packet to see just how many there are! WOW! Here is an activity my kinders will be able to complete during Math with Self or Math with Someone rotations!

For this activity, the kiddos roll the cube and count up the pumpkin seeds.

Then they color in the matching amount of pumpkins on the recording sheet. Next the roll again, and using a different color crayon they color in that amount of pumpkins. They continue until the page is full. See how easily that activity could be used as math with Self or Math with Someone?

I hope I have helped to Spotlight Jill from Chevron and Centers and her amazing creations! Below are the ways to link up with her!

It's Coming....Spotlight Saturday is Almost Here!

Happy Friday everyone! I'm sure there are many of you who are all done with school for the year, and I hope you get to relax and recuperate this summer! For those of you like the teachers in my district that have a few more weeks of school, hang in there! Summer is almost here!

I would LOVE for you to use this graphic when you're talking about this link up or when you're linking back to my blog! Just right click and save to your desktop then upload into your post, or take a screen shot and upload it that way. I would LOVE to see this graphic flying all over the internet, and I KNOW you can all make that happen!!

Tomorrow is Saturday, and you know what that means! Time for my weekly Link Up, Spotlight Saturday!! This is my very first linky party and I would very much LOVE for you to join up! This linky is all about showcasing your hard work and the hard work of others. You will be able to link up until the end of the week, so please check back through the week to continue to bask in the Spotlight! :-)

Here's the deal.  Spotlight Saturday is a weekly linky party where bloggers can link up to Spotlight one of their very favorite activities. This could be an activity or product from your Teachers Pay Teachers store that you are super proud of and want to share with the world. It could be a product that you purchased or won from another seller that you are just so blown away with you simply had to talk all about it. Or you could Spotlight an activity from one of your Pinterest boards that you either have tried or are going to try.

If you are Spotlighting resources or products from a TPT store, I ask that you begin your post by Spotlighting a 'Forever Freebie' from the seller's store as well as a paid product. A Forever Freebie is a product that the seller has in their store that will ALWAYS be free. Sometimes sellers offer products for free as a *Flash Freebie* or as free for a limited time only. Make sure the freebie that you Spotlight is one that will always be free, so that anyone reading your post isn't disappointed when they go to download the awesome resource you just showcased and once they reach the seller's store they find out it isn't free anymore. Remember to be gentle. The people who create activities and resources to post in their TPT store have most likely spent many hours on their creations, and they are proud of their hard work. This is not the time to talk about how disappointed you were with the product or how you would have done it completely differently. Keep those thoughts in emails that you share with the seller, don't put them on blast here! Those kinds of negative posts WILL BE DELETED FROM THE LINKY!!!

I have been lucky enough to 'meet' a whole lot of wonderful people through this blogging experience! In my efforts to get my name out there I have met educators with similar goals. I love linking up with other educator bloggers because I always learn so much from them and it is so great to have friends in this community!  Spotlight Saturday is a great way to not only share your products with the blogging world but to also give shout outs to those creators and designers whose work you just LOVE!

Rules:
1) You need to spotlight an educational resource that either you have created or you have found from someone else and love!
2) Make sure to give credit where credit is due! You will need to include the name of the creator as well as a link to their TPT or Teacher's Notebook store where others can get a copy of the resource as well.

My Summer Goals Link-Up

Happy Friday everyone! I know that oh so many of you lucky folks are all done for the year! Congratulations on making it through another year!! Around these parts, we'll be going to school until mid-June or later. Gotta make up those snow days!

I found out about this a bit too late to make the first link up, but I wanted to link up with Monica from I Heart Grade 3 for her AWESOME summer link up party! She has set a really awesome schedule of blogging topics for the entire summer! Every Monday is when you can link up and share your blog! I just LOVE link up parties, they are not only a wonderful way to get more traffic to your blog but they are also a great way to give a blogger something to write about! I know that during the summer it can be hard to think of topics <about as hard as being out of work on disability!> so having a schedule like this will really help! Here's what Monica has come up with!

So, according to the schedule, this week I am to share with you my Summer Goals. Isn't the summer just the very best time of the year?? I'm not overly crazy about the humidity and heat, but I do so enjoy the time off of work to rest and recuperate! My goals this summer are a tad different than previous summers, but that's due to the injuries sustained during the car accident in January. So here goes, my Summer Goals!

Ever since the accident at the end of January I have been laid up on the couch unable to walk. I have not been able to stand on my own without the aide of crutches or a walker. We live in a two-story house so I have not been able to sleep in my own bed since January. I have been undergoing laser surgery treatments this month that will continue on through next month. The treatments have been helping the scar tissue damage to heal and for the blood flow and circulation to my ankle to return. The treatments aren't painful, and so far they seem to be helping. I cannot walk yet, but the swelling is FINALLY starting to go down and I can tell the circulation is coming back. The doctor thinks I should be able to walk again by the end of June or end of July at the latest. I have a long road to recovery, but I WILL RECOVER! :-)

My poor little blog has really suffered since the accident! For the first few months I was simply recovering, and the next few months I was having a hard time finding things to talk about since I wasn't in school. One of my goals this summer is to get into a regular routine of blogging, as well as trying some things for the very first time. I'm currently trying my very first link up party, and though no one has linked up yet I have gotten some positive feedback! Yay!! I'm also going to try my first group blog, getting together with some other AMAZING early childhood educators/bloggers. We have some pretty amazing things planned for the summer, so make sure you stay tuned! My blog celebrates it's third birthday this year, and I want to plan a huge birthday bash to celebrate! More to come about that as July gets closer!!

Not only has my blog suffered since my accident, but so has my TPT store! Before the accident I had even started the process of starting up a Teacher's Notebook store, but have done ZERO with that since then!! My TPT store has not gotten much attention at all lately, and I am making a goal to change that!  Last summer I had set a goal to get 100 products posted in my TPT store, and after a lot of hard work I was able to create and post over 30 products! I was able to reach that goal, and I have been thinking about how to set a new goal this summer. I am definitely going to be creating, but I seem to do better when I have a set goal to strive for. I also want to keep it realistic enough that I can reach the goal and not get frustrated and give up or get discouraged. I haven't decided what the goal should be for this summer...I'm thinking that getting another 30 products posted is pretty realistic. I haven't decided yet, but I will definitely let you know!!

This is by far my largest summer goal, and perhaps the most complicated one to fulfill! My first summer goal is to walk again, and this goal follows directly behind that first goal. Once I can walk again I have oh so very much that I need to get done. First and foremost, get back into shape!! Not being able to do ANYTHING buy sit on the couch all day long means I have lost muscle tone and gained fat. Stupid fat. I was doing SO WELL before the accident! Walking a few miles a day, hitting up the gym for an hour or so, doing better with eating habits. Then everything stopped...though to be honest things had started sputtering out after my mom died unexpectedly. So anyway, it is most definitely beyond time to get back to being active and healthy! As soon as I can walk again I'll be talking with the doctor and physical therapist to see how much I can safely do without causing any more damage. I know that I won't be able to get right back into the swing of things, and that I will have to take things slowly as I continue to heal. I won't be walking as much or doing as much weight-lifting, but I am so ready to get started! I can't get back to where I was without getting started!
Besides getting back into shape, I also have to get some serious cleaning done! Everything I neglected while I wasn't able to do anything, and I do believe I'll be looking into getting the couch cleaned. I owe that, and so much more, to my dad for taking care of me! :-)
I have to get a new car. I don't know about all of  you, but I'm not a fan of car shopping. Oh don't get me wrong, I LOVE having a brand new car! I love the smell and the shiny sparkling clean and the newness of it all. I just don't particularly enjoy shopping for a new car. Honestly everyone, I'm not all that crazy about driving again...makes me a bit nervous. Realistically, I know that I need to get behind the wheel and drive again. I'm just feeling nervous about it. So imagine how much I am so not looking forward into setting foot on the car lot! I know that I want something safe, with at least the same if not more airbags than my old car had. The new car has to be as safe as or safer than my old one. Other than that, I'm not 100% sure of what I want. So I'll be doing some research on cars during the next few months. I need to have one before school starts again in August. It is my right ankle that I broke, my 'driving foot', so if I have to wear a brace or something I won't be able to drive yet. Then I'll have to look into carpooling, but I'll worry about that detail if and when it happens! :-)

So those are my summer goals! I have a lot of work to do, and I will be periodically updating you all on how my goals are going. I put it in writing so you can hold me to it! :-) I would LOVE to hear about any goals you have set for yourself this summer! We can work together to hold each other accountable for our progress!! :-) Make sure to go read about the summer goals so many others have written about by going back to Monica's I Heart Grade 3 blog and learn all about her summer weekly link up party!

Spotlight Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone! I know that some of you are kicking off your Summer Vacation this week, and good for you! I hope you are able to enjoy every last moment and get lots of rest and relaxation! In my neck of the woods we have a few weeks of school left. Our kiddos will be done mid-June (thanks snow days) and I know our teachers are ready for the break!

Today is Saturday, and that means I am going to be spotlighting some awesome resources that you can find in the wide wide world of TPT! Today I'm going to spotlight one freebie and one paid resource from the store of 2 Super Teachers. I was lucky enough to win one of their AMAZING products during a giveaway this past week, and thought I'd give you a peek into the awesomeness! 2 Super Teachers is a pair of teachers who team-teach together, and their store is a combination of resources and clipart. I think my favorite clipart set they have is their 'Rainbow Kitty Clipart' which definitely reminds me of one of my favorite blue sneaker-wearing cats!

First I'd like to spotlight one of their amazing freebies. They have OVER 70 freebies in their store! Holey Moley!!  Their freebies are a mixture of resources and clipart sets, just like the rest of their store.

You know me and rainbows! They fit in so perfectly with my classroom, and rainbows definitely go right along with dragons! This frame freebie is perfect! It has all the colors of the rainbow and the squares are simple enough that it can perfectly border a page without being too busy and taking up too much space. It is the perfect accent to so many different activities, plus it would definitely add a splash of pizazz to your newsletters or party flyers! If you'd like to get this freebie for yourself, click on the image above to head over to grab one! Don't forget to leave some feedback love if you download!

Next I'm going to spotlight one of the paid resources you can find in their store. This is the awesome activity that I won in their giveaway this week!

How cute is this pack ALREADY??!! I know my kinders would totally recognize that little blue pigeon on the cover! This pack is PERFECT for helping littles to understand those tricky vowels. The entire packet focuses on how to get littles to recognize vowels by sight and sound. It is chock-full of so many different activities that can be used during Word Work time of Daily 5 rotations or as guided group lessons.

There are so very many activities in this pack that I don't know where to start! There are posters of each vowel included, and inside the vowels are different words that begin with that letter. There are also sorting mats so littles can categorize pictures based on which vowel they begin with. Not to mention the super-adorable bookmarks that come in both color and black and white, and can be used as Treasure Box rewards!

There are also cards with the middle vowel missing that students will have to fill in. Handwriting sheets to practice forming those letters and writing words that begin with each vowel. An activity to sort short and long vowel sounds, plus an activity to match the vowel sounds in CVC words. There is also a set of play dough mats included so littles can work on those fine motor skills while forming the vowels. These all come in color and can be laminated and placed out at different center activities.

Besides all of the amazing full-color resources, there are plenty of black and white pages that can be used as a quick assessment grade or just so you can determine quickly which of your students have mastered the skill and which still need some extra practice. The black and white practice pages include lift the flap, trace and dot, roll and read, and Write the Room. Talk about a great variety!!

One of my favorite resources in this packet is a vowel easy reader. I LOVE these types of readers because we can work on them in guided reading groups and practice identifying the words and letter sounds, then students can color them and add them to their Book Boxes. My kinders always feel so good about themselves when they have books they can independently read during Read to Self and Read to Someone rotation time. I LOVE being able to give them books they can read themselves!

Here's a closer look at one of the many activities included. Students use a dry erase marker to draw a line between the two pictures that contain the same middle vowel sound. This is such a perfect set of cards to laminate and place at a Word Work center! I can't wait to be able to use these next year when we start introducing the vowels!

Don't forget about the super-cute play dough mats! These are perfect to put out during Word Work time or to have in the Sensory Table during center time. I know my kinders LOVE getting to use play dough, and I'm sure yours do too!

I hope you have enjoyed today's Spotlight Saturday! I hope you will give 2 Super Teachers a visit! You can reach them at their TPT store:

Or you can visit their Facebook page:

You can also reach out to them on their blog!

Click on any of the images above to go learn more about 2 Super Teachers and their amazing products!

I have been lucky enough to 'meet' a whole lot of wonderful people through this blogging experience! In my efforts to get my name out there I have met educators with similar goals. I love linking up with other educator bloggers because I always learn so much from them and it is so great to have friends in this community!  One of my newest friends, Yvonne from Teachie-Peachie, has suggested making Spotlight Saturday a weekly LinkUp Party. So, I'm going to try! I would love for you all to participate in this linky!

1) You need to spotlight an educational resource that either you have created or you have found from someone else and love!
2) Make sure to give credit where credit is due! You will need to include the name of the creator as well as a link to their TPT or Teacher's Notebook store where others can get a copy of the resource as well.
3) Include pictures of the product in your post, either screen shots or photographs of your kiddos actually using the product.
4) Make sure to leave a comment on the post of the two people before your post and the person after. This will help get conversation rolling, and will make sure everyone feels recognized for their efforts!
5) Follow my blog with Bloglovin' to make sure you are kept up to date on all the latest link up additions.
6) To Link Up, you will need to click on the small blue button underneath my Warmest Wishes cloud. It is directly under the cloud on the left hand side of the blog, and looks like this:
This is not the link you need to click ^^^^^, it is just an image of the button you are looking for.
You will need to find this matching image underneath my Warmest Wishes cloud on the left hand side of the blog. Look down there and then click on this button. It will redirect you to the inlinkz page where you can read a bit more about the linky party and then click to link up your post! I'm really excited to see how this works, and I can't wait to have you link up! **My 'PIN ME" dragon button pops up whenever you hover over the image, so make sure to click on the SIDE of the dragon. Click the blue box and NOT the dragon, or you'll be pinning the image instead of heading over to inlikz to link up. This is my VERY FIRST TIME doing anything like this, and I would LOVE whatever advice you might have to make this process even better! Thank you so much!!
