Happy Friday everyone!! I hope everyone has been making the absolute most of their summer, since it's already July!!!!
I am suffering from a case of TPTVegas envy!! I'm bummed I couldn't get there this year, but I am really loving all of the tips and tidbits that are coming to us via social media from Vegas. I don't know about you all, but I AM SO THERE NEXT YEAR!!! #teamtptvegas2016
It's Friday so I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her AWESOME Five for Friday linky!
So much to tell you about my week!! Here goes!
Guess who was able to WALK upstairs?? Not crawl, not use crutches, but my own two feet and the hand rails!! I'm SO EXCITED!! I had to wear my big clunky leg brace and hold on to both hand rails, BUT I WALKED UPSTAIRS!!!!!
It makes me feel good about being able to start off the new school year!!
Because of my ankle injury, I was not able to attend TPT Vegas this year. So I have been a bit jealous of everyone who is there and having such a great time!! However, I am super grateful to have the chance to follow some of the happenings. There are some really awesome things happening on social media right now, and two incredibly uplifting and inspiring ladies are totally making us feel like we're in Vegas too! Angie from Lucky Little Learners and Ashley from Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd have been so awesome as to keep us updated with Vegas happenings through Periscope. They are so awesome for starting #periscopeteachers.
I have been having such a great time following them on Periscope. They have totally inspired me to find my #teachertribe! I can't wait to surround myself with people who completely understand what teaching kindergarten is all about! Go #kindertribe!
If you have been anywhere near Instagram this week, you have probably seen lots of things flying around about Periscope, #periscopeteachers. Periscope is an app you can download to your phone that will allow you to connect with teachers in ways you haven't been able to before. Periscope allows you to follow live broadcasts from other educators, and I have been able to get a glimpse into TPT Vegas because of Periscope broadcasts! Now all I need to do is get up the courage to do my own live broadcast!
If you're on Periscope, I welcome you to come and follow me! I'll follow you back!!!
Like so many of my fellow educators, I too have fallen into the abyss that we call Target Dollar Spot. I may or may not have visited my local target and rode around in one of the motorized shopping carts, since I am still not up to all that walking. It was the very first time I have ever ridden one of those carts, and after I got the hang of it I was zipping through the store! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that whenever I had to back up, the cart went beep-beep-beep, just like a large truck would when backing up!!
Anywho, after zipping around in my little cart I visited the Dollar Spot. Let's just say I spent a pretty penny in that part of the store!!
I really love it when I can find Crayola stuff in the Dollar Spot!!! I got some great board books for the beginning of the year, several card games for counting and colors, and some pretty awesome phonics puzzles too!!
Of course, my shopping didn't stop there. I ended up with all kinds of awesome goodies, and I can't wait to go back and see what else I can score!! Who else LOVES Target Dollar Spot!! Holla for the Dolla y'all!!!
I also got ALL four of the Laura Numeroff books from Kohl's, and of course I had to pick up the matching stuffed animals for all four books! My kinders LOVE reading to stuffed animals during our Read to Someone Else Daily 5 rotations, and I can't wait to add these four cuties to our Buddy Bucket!!

Finally, I'm going to give you another update on how I'm making out with my self-imposed Freebie Feedback Challenge!!
I think I'm doing a pretty good job of staying on track with this challenge!! I've left feedback on almost 200 freebies since I started this challenge two weeks ago!! Not too shabby!!! I'm so glad that I can hold myself accountable to this challenge by sharing my numbers with you each week!! I'm determined to leave feedback on every single freebie I've downloaded. I wonder how long it will take me??
Well, that's pretty much my entire week so far! I hope that you are having an incredible week, whether you're in Vegas or somewhere else! Make sure to see who else linked up for Five for Friday!
Also, DON'T FORGET that tomorrow is my Spotlight Saturday link up! It's like a Show and Tell for teachers, where we get to Spotlight our favorite products, resources, activities, or ideas! Share with us some awesome things you're going to do or use in your classroom! I can't wait to see who links up this week!
I've been following your recovery story and I'm so excited that you're walking up the stairs! I know it seems like this has been a long, long road but in the past few weeks, you've really made HUGE progress! It won't be long til you'll be at Target shopping on your own two feet!

Oh my goodness I can't thank you enough for your kind words of support and encouragement!! My dr said the same thing about me making big progress these past few weeks! I'm so excited to possibly be able to start the school year in August, even if I have to have a few restrictions!! I can't wait until I can have the energy, strength, and stamina to be walking around with just my two feet! Never, ever again will I take something as simple as walking for granted!
DeleteI can't thank you enough for your support and kindness, it really means so very much to me!!! Thank you so much for taking time to read about my recovery and post such incredibly encouraging words! You totally rock!!!! :-) I hope you have an amazing weekend!!
That Target Dollar spot is a teaching vortex. I too have already been sucked in and found some great stuff, like 10 more baskets. I still need to check a few more Targets. I hope walking up the stairs means that you'll be fully mobile soon. Best wishes on your recovery.

I love that you referred to it as a teaching vortex, because it totally is!!! It sucks us in every year, several times throughout the year!!! I only have one Target within reasonable driving distance from me, but it is a SuperTarget so that makes it pretty awesome! Not to mention it's attached to a shopping mall that has an Auntie Anne's and a Disney Store.... :-)
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words of encouragement! I'm also hoping that being able to walk upstairs is a huge bonus to my recovery and that soon I'll be able to walk without a brace for long periods of time! Right now it's pretty painful to walk too far, but it is so nice to FINALLY get out of the house and visit stores with electric carts so I can get some shopping done for myself instead of depending on others to take care of me!
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my post and leave such great feedback, it really means a lot to me!!
Erin, you had such great finds at Target! I don't know what is going on with my Target but I am not finding all the same goodies as everyone else! Also, way to go on your feedback challenge!!! You are doing great!! Keep it up girl! :) Have a great week and thanks for sharing!

PS...SO glad you are feeling better each day!
Thank you so much! I so glad to have been able to 'meet' so many awesome people like yourself through all these link ups!!
DeleteI really appreciate you reading and leaving feedback, it means a lot!! :-)
I am right there with you on TPTVegas16!! I am determined to go next year! The periscope broadcasts have been amazing! I JUST finished summer school so I refuse to go to Target where I might see "back To School" stuff! I did however score two incredibly adorable trashcans for my classroom tonight at Office Max on clearance for $3.50 when I went for ink.
ReplyDeleteYay, #teamtptvegas2016!!!! I'm already ridiculously excited and it's literally a year away!! :-) I too think the Periscope broadcasts have been amazing, such an awesome little glimpse into what's happening!! I can totally understand you not wanting to see back to school stuff yet, especially since you just finished summer school!! Kudos on your Office Max find, isn't it such a great feeling to find things on clearance!!!
DeleteThank you so much for reading and leaving such great feedback, it really means a lot!
So glad you're able to walk up the stairs, yay for healing! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been LOVING Periscope and getting a peek into TPTVegas15! Wish I could easily go one year!

Thank you so much!! I am SO SLOW and I have to hold onto the hand rails on both sides, but I can walk up the stairs!!! It's so exciting!!! Never again will I take something as basic as walking for granted, that's for sure!!
DeleteI too have been loving Periscope, it's so cool to get a glimpse into the goings-on in Vegas!! I am so making it a priority to go next year!! #teamtptvegas2016 I hope to see you there one year!
Thanks so much for reading my post and leaving such sweet and encouraging feedback, I really appreciate it!!
Congrats on your milestone, I'm glad to hear that you can do stairs! I'm also very jealous of your Target haul, I've been trying to avoid mine but I see so many pics on social media, I might have to make a trip today!!!!! Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you so much, I'm so excited to be somewhat mobile again!! I can even go to stores that have electric carts so I can zip around the aisles! I can finally start to do my own shopping, I'm starting to be independent again! Still a long way to go but so excited!! I can understand wanting to avoid Target, it can get pretty costly!!! However, I'm already planning my trip back!!
DeleteThank you so much for stopping by and leaving feedback, you rock!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!
