Tell All Tuesday: My Dream Classroom

Tell All Tuesday is a link up hosted by My Day in K and Teach.Talk.Inspire. This is such a fun linky where we get to learn a bit about each other and share a bit about ourselves!

This week is all about your dream classroom. How fun!! i know everyone has thought about what they would want to add to their dream classroom! Now is a chance to share your big ideas!!

My dream classroom would be big. Lots and lots and lots of storage space for books and everything else a teacher has. Surrounded by windows that let in lots of natural light, but also has black-out blinds/curtains for all those glow in the dark lessons! Enough room for the center activities to not overlap with each other and plenty of spots to put cushy chairs and pillows for reading and getting work done. Walls I am allowed to put holes into and a ceiling that I can hang stuff from. Bathroom in the classroom as well as a small kitchenette with fridge/freezer, stove, sink, cabinets.
A bright, colorful space that is warm and welcoming to students and makes them excited to come to school every day!!

I would DEFINITELY do as much as I could with my dragon theme! I have made A LOT of the dragon-themed decor for my classroom, and I am really in love with it!!
I made our classroom door tags, complete with their name on a crayon.

These are my classroom mascots, the inspiration for my decor! I have big plans for these guys this year!!

I made a dragon-themed alphabet line, with a dragon holding an image of something that begins with the letter on each card. The vowels are in red ink and the consonants in black.

 Close-up o the ABC line.

Above the SMART Board is my number line. It features the numerals 0-20, and each poster has the number word, numeral, and matching set in a ten frame.

The sets in the ten frames are created with sparkly gems and jewels, because dragons LOVE sparkly gems and shiny jewels!!

My schedule cards feature dragons, and our day is tracked by moving the dragon down the rainbow to his castle.

My Word Wall features letters created using rainbow letters. I love the scribble effect, and rainbows fit perfectly with the magic of dragons!

If I had unlimited funds and could add some fund theme pieces to my classroom, here's what I would do!

Check out all of these dragon pillow pets!! They would be perfect to scatter around the room and students could use them to sit comfortably on the floor while working.

Oh my goodness, look at these seats!!! I'm loving the dragon furniture!! What kinder wouldn't love to curl up in one of these chairs with a book during Read to Self time?? I would have these all over the room, enough for everyone to have a dragon seat!

Thanks so much for reading about my dream classroom! You can link up too and share your dream classroom!!

Make sure to swing back over and see who else is sharing their dream classroom! A lot of great ideas are being shared!!!

You can still link up for Spotlight Saturday, a Teacher's Show and Tell for favorite products, activities, resources, tips, tricks, techniques, ideas, and anything else about our classroom lives that we want to showcase!

    1. Thank you so much!! Isn't it so important for us to create a classroom environment we can be happy in, too? Since we spend the majority of our days there!

    1. Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous of your school's mascot!!! I've never heard of a school with a dragon mascot, that is so awesome!! Thank you so much for your sweet words about my classroom theme, I love getting to create such an original space!! I am totally in love with those chairs, I want like ten of each!! :-)

  4. I love having my large windows that let in tons of natural light- until we have a lockdown code called and then there's no where to hide. :( And because of the windows I have no emergency lighting. I teach Deaf kids so when the blinds are closed and the lights are off (because those are the rules for a lockdown) there's literally no way to communicate since they can't see me at all. It's not fun. But mostly my windows are great! :)

    1. Yikes, I guess some parts of a dream classroom aran't always such a dream!! I can't imagine how stressful a lockdown type situation would be for you and your kiddos, especially since you can't communicate with them during that time. What an incredibly stressful and potentially scary time for them, huge kudos to you for doing such a great job keeping them calm!! We have various lockdown drills too, and our 'most serious' has us locking all doors, covering all windows, turning off lights, and hiding behind the lockers. I'm glad we practice the drills but I really hope we never ever ever have to use them!
Thank you so much for reading my post and for leaving such great feedback! I love learning how things are done in other schools!!

  5. I LOVE your dragon theme!! I have found myself thinking, "oh, Erin would like that!" as I've come across dragon stuff this summer! :) I am sure you have seen the new Scrappin Doodles dragon clip art they came out with a few weeks ago. You were the first person I thought of. :) I bet your kids LOVE it!! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you so much!!! I would LOVE to see whatever dragon stuff you come across, I don't always find new things to add to the classroom!! :-) It's so funny, because I've found myself saying 'If I wasn't obsessed with dragons, I'd totally have a Disney-themed room like Erin's.' Although while I love how yours is so Mickey and Minnie with all the matching colors, I would go more the route of 'The 100 Acre Woods' and have a classroom with as much Eeyore as I could fit!!
I have seen the dragon clipart by Scrappin' Doodles!! I totally stalk her store, for the longest time she was the ONLY designer who had dragons. And they are SO CUTE!!! Most of everything I have ever created with a dragon is one of her dragons, LOVE THEM!!!
Thank you so much for thinking of me, that is the sweetest thing ever! I can't wait to see what you decide about your classroom, especially that desk!!! I love the patterns and colors used on that teacher desk you showed!! :-)

    2. :) It must be the name! Great minds think alike! I love the idea of "The 100 Acre Woods." It reminds me of something my sister would do if she were a teacher.... I have plenty of chevron and polka dot borders, so if I don't paint my teacher desk, I can at least spruce it up in that way! I plan to do a post when I actually finish my room this year! :)
